Peace and Justice
The second Sunday of every month come down to the Church Hall and peruse items for sale at the Fair Trade table. Fair Trade is an organization that aims to help producers in developing countries make better trading conditions and sustainability. The Fair Trade System ensures that people along every step of the supply chain receive fair wages, that workers and communities are treated with dignity, and that artisans and producers take steps to preserve the environment. Fair Trade builds real and lasting relationships between producers in developing countries and businesses and consumers in more developed areas all around the world.
Also on the second Sunday of every month you can offer your talents to Clothing God's Children. Clothing God’s Children is a ministry in our parish that supplies much needed homemade diapers, dresses, and shorts to children living in poverty. Volunteers to sew are needed. But even if you don't sew you can make kits with materials and printed sewing instructions. Sewing kits that are picked up one month are returned the following month. This ministry is dependent on donations of materials. New or gently used cotton bed sheets and T-shirts, as well as sewing notions would be gratefully accepted. Also, Match Box size cars, Beanie Babies, and small stuffed toys are needed to put in the pockets of dresses and shorts for the children. For information, come down to the Church Hall the second Sunday of every month, or call 708-326-9323
Respect Life programs help raise consciousness about the Social Teachings of the Church and provide opportunities for making a difference for life. October is Respect Life Month and our members will participate in 40 Days for Life and New Lenox Life Chain . Semiannual Diaper Drives to support pregnancy centers , and the Baby Bottle Collection for Women's Choice Services are some of the fundraising events. There are family fun events too, like Celebrating Children in April, Birthday Party for our Spiritually Adopted babies in May. Other events are announced in the Pro-life Corner of our church bulletin.
