Ministers of Care Program.
Our Ministers of Care are ready and willing to bring Holy Communion to our homebound parishioners. A family member should call the parish office and request a Minister of Care to bring communion to the homebound person on a weekly basis. If anointing of the sick is requested, our priests will respond as soon as possible. Due to legal privacy concerns, we now must have authorization from a close family member in order to place a person on our bulletin prayer list and prayer chain.
Time and time again, we find that hospitals do not notify us about our parishioners being admitted. Parishioners are also often surprised to learn that, despite numerous hospitalizations, the religious status of their loved one does not carry over from visit to visit, and thus the patient never receives Communion in the hospital. For these reasons, it is essential that you do two things. First, make sure that your loved one is listed as Catholic in the hospital admittance forms. Second, call the parish office at 708-326-9300, to let us know that your loved one is in the hospital so we may make sure someone brings communion to them. Due to legal privacy concerns, we cannot publish their names here in the parish bulletin without authorization from from a family member. Thanks for your understanding, and may your loved ones get well soon!
